Looking After a Sauna in the UAE

Sauna maintenance in the UAE is mostly about heat, dryness, and dust. The cabin does not need a complicated chemistry set. It needs to be dried after use, wiped when the garden has blown grit indoors, and checked before a small issue becomes a site visit.

After every session

• Leave the door open long enough for the wood to dry. Trapped moisture is harder on benches than the heat was.
• Wipe sweat from the benches and the backrest with a damp cloth, then let them dry.
• Do not leave wet towels on the wood.
• If you poured water on traditional heater stones, make sure the floor at the door is dry before the next person walks through.

Each month, and after a dusty week

Dust sticks to residual moisture and then sands the grain. Wipe benches, duckboards, and the door pull. Check that ventilation grilles on a traditional or hybrid cabin are clear. Look at the heater stones and remove any that have crumbled. Outdoor cabins such as the Terra and the Boreal need this more often, because wind and irrigation mist reach the shell. Keep plants and spray off the wood.

What not to use

Skip harsh bathroom cleaners, undiluted bleach, and soaking the interior with a hose. Sauna wood wants to be cleaned and then dried, not sealed in a film of product. If a bench is damaged or a heater trips the circuit, stop using it and call the studio rather than opening the heater yourself.

A cold plunge has its own routine: filtration running, a periodic water change, and the chiller kept clear of stored towels. That is covered in the home plunge guide. The sauna and the plunge should not share one neglected corner.

How long should the door stay open?

Long enough for the benches to feel dry to the touch. In a humid week that takes longer than on a dry one.

Does air conditioning dry the cabin for me?

It helps the room. It does not replace opening the sauna door and wiping the benches.

When is a service visit worth it?

If the heater will not hold temperature, the door no longer closes, or you smell hot electrical insulation. Those are not cleaning problems.
