Infrared or Traditional: Which Sauna Fits a Dubai Home
Infrared and traditional saunas are both real saunas. They are not interchangeable. Infrared warms the body with heated panels at a lower air temperature. A traditional cabin heats the air and a pile of stones, and the session feels hotter and more humid once water meets the stones. In a Dubai villa, the building usually decides as much as personal taste.
What changes in the room
An infrared cabin such as the Solara or the two-person Eclipse is often the better fit for a finished interior. It reaches a usable temperature quickly, which suits a session before work, and it asks less of the electrical supply than a stone heater. People who want a hotter air temperature, and the option to ladle water on stones, are looking at a traditional cabin such as the Horizon or the Alpine.
Heat, time, and power
- Warm-up. Infrared is the quicker daily option. A traditional heater is worth it when the sauna is part of a longer evening routine.
- Air temperature. Traditional cabins run hotter. Infrared sessions happen at a milder air temperature, which some households prefer in an already warm climate.
- Power. Confirm 220–240V capacity before choosing a traditional heater. Do this before the room is finished, not after the marble is down.
- Wood and layout. Both formats are built in wood. The traditional cabin also needs clearance around the heater and a ventilation path.
When a hybrid is the honest answer
Some rooms are asked to do both. A hybrid cabin keeps infrared panels and adds a traditional heater, so one person can take a milder session and another can run the stove. The Element is the smaller hybrid. The Zenith suits a larger household. Read the villa buying guide if you are still deciding how the room will be used.
Starting prices
Infrared cabins on this site start from AED 14,499. Traditional indoor saunas start from AED 23,400. Hybrid cabins start from AED 18,999. These are starting prices. Wood, heater size, delivery, and installation are confirmed on a consultation.
Is infrared a lesser sauna?
No. It is a different heat source. Choose it for speed and a milder air temperature, not because it is a compromise.
Which is easier to maintain?
Both need the cabin dried and wiped after use. A traditional heater also needs the stones checked and the air path kept clear. Dust is the extra factor in the UAE, especially if a door opens toward a garden.
Can I add a plunge either way?
Yes. A cold plunge sits beside either format. The electrical and drainage plan should cover both pieces, not the cabin alone.
