Contrast Therapy at Home: Sauna and Cold Plunge
Contrast therapy is the practice of moving between heat and cold in one session. At home, that only works if the sauna and the plunge are close enough to use without a long walk through the house, and if each one has its own power and water plan. The Equinox is Meridian’s contrast system, pairing heat and cold as one specification. It starts from AED 33,500.
Lay the room out as a loop
Put the cabin and the plunge in the same suite, with a dry patch of floor between them and a towel hook that is not inside either one. You should be able to step out of the heat and into the plunge without crossing a bedroom. A drain, a non-slip surface, and a door that can close the suite off from air-conditioned glass are the practical details.
The heat side can be infrared or traditional. A quicker daily rhythm often uses an infrared cabin such as the Eclipse. A longer ritual can use a traditional sauna. The cold side for a home is usually the Arctic or, if two people share it, the Polar. The cold plunge guide separates those models.
A simple session order
- Warm up in the sauna until you are ready, not until you are enduring it.
- Step out, rinse your feet if the floor needs it, and enter the plunge.
- Stay for a short, calm interval. Get out while your breathing is still steady.
- Rest in the room, then repeat only if you still want to.
- Finish warm and dry, and leave both the cabin and the tub ready for the next person.
This is a wellness routine, not a treatment. People with a heart condition, uncontrolled blood pressure, or pregnancy should talk to their doctor before using strong heat and cold.
Power and price
The cabin and the chiller need their own circuits. Planning them together is part of villa installation. The Equinox starting price is the floor for a paired system. Separate cabin and plunge pages show their own starting prices if you would rather specify each piece. Book a consultation with the room dimensions.
Do I have to plunge after every sauna?
No. The plunge is there for the days you want it. The sauna still works on its own.
How many rounds?
One unhurried round is a complete session. More rounds are optional, not a target.
Can this go in a gym?
A boutique studio can use the Polar and a cabin. A busy commercial floor should look at the Glacier Pro, which is built for continuous use.
